Field Equipment Checkout Policies
- Students are required to attend Field Equipment training (covering NX5, DSLR, lighting and audio) to be certified to check out field equipment. An OMN Equipment Checkout Policy form should be signed following certifications.
- All equipment must be checked out by a front desk staff member or a professional staff member. Students may not check out equipment by themselves.
- All Orange Media Network equipment is to be used for OMN productions only, and may not be used for class projects or personal use.
- Students may not check out equipment for another students to use, nor let anyone else borrow it. Students should maintain possession of equipment for the entirety of their allotted time with equipment.
- All equipment must be attended to at all times when used in public spaces.
- Any equipment checked out is due back in 48 hours by the end of the business day at 4pm. If equipment is checked out on Friday, it is due by 4:00 pm on the next business day.
- When a student checks out equipment, they are responsible for checking it in on time. All maintenance issues or damage must be reported to staff at check-in.
- If a student returns equipment late without prior approved arrangements, or leaves gear unattended, The Three Strike Rule* applies as follows:
- First Strike: Warning
- Second Strike: Loss of checkout privileges for two weeks, and referral to their student manager for write up
- Third Strike: Recommended termination from OMN
Students are encouraged to plan ahead and consider their class schedules when checking out equipment. Gear will be available for check-out and check-in during posted hours, unless prior arrangements have been made with our professional staff.
*The severity of violations is subject to review of the OMN Director. Some violations may lead a student to the third strike at their first offense.
