Special Event Funding

Special Event Criteria

  • Must be open to all OSU students (recruitment activities and general meetings excluded).
  • Must occur between weeks 1-10 of the term (fall, winter, spring only)
  • A series of connected activities all occurring within a 2 week period shall be considered one event for funding purposes (i.e conference, awareness weeks, competitions, etc.)

RSO Working Alone    

Allocation Limits:
  • Up to $1500 (50 participants)
  • Up to $2500 (50+ participants)
Number of Events:
  • 2 fundable events per year

RSO In Collaboration

Allocation Limits    
  • Up to $3000 (2-3 RSO collaborators)
  • Up to $4000 (4+ RSO collaborators)
Number of Events    
  • *2 additional fundable events per year

*Whether alone or in collaboration. No more than 2 total special events will be funded in a given term. 

Deadlines to Submit Funding Requests

  • Fall Term Weeks 1-4: September 15, 2025
  • Fall Term Weeks 5-10: October 10, 2025
  • Winter Term Weeks 1-10: December 5, 2025
  • Spring Term Weeks 1-10: March 6, 2026

Requests of $1000 or less:

  • Submission at least 2 weeks (14 days) in advance of event
  • Completed budget at least 1 week (7 days) in advance of event

Requests of over $1000:

  • Submission at least 4 weeks (28 days) in advance of event
  • Completed budget at least 2 weeks (14 days) in advance of event

Org Development Funding

Org Development Criteria

  • Tabling and recruitment activities, meetings, or any event "closed" to the public
  • Any activity not funded as a special event
  • Must occur between weeks 1-10 of the term (fall, winter, spring only)

Org Development Events/Activities

Allocation Limits
  • Up to $2000 annually (Sept. 2024 through June 2025)
    • Up to $1000 (50 participants)
    • Up to $2000 (50+ participants)
Number of Events
  • Any number of events
    • Must be within weeks 1-10 of the given term (fall, winter, spring only)
    • Cumulative expenses using SOA grants may not exceed $1500
  • Recurring events/activities may be funded up to one term at a time
    • New requests must be submitted each term

Deadlines to Submit Funding Requests

Requests are accepted on a rolling basis between August 2025 and June, 2026 (or until department funds are exhausted)

Requests of $1000 or less:

  • Submission at least 2 weeks (14 days) in advance of event
  • Completed budget at least 1 week (7 days) in advance of event

Requests of over $1000:

  • Submission at least 4 weeks (28 days) in advance of event
  • Completed budget at least 2 weeks (14 days) in advance of event
